✨Why I Love Travel so much✨

I’m the kind of person who still gets excited going to the airport, always looks forward to checking into a new hotel, and who loves seeing the world through a camera lens — taking photos of beautiful places is definitely my happy place ✨There’s something about travel that speaks straight to my soul — as if it was always meant to be part of me.

I have loved travel for as long as I can remember. As a child, watching planes take off and land really fascinated me, and for a long time I wanted to be a flight attendant or a pilot. I even took flying lessons as a teenager (and can proudly say that I have landed a plane). I never followed that path in the end, but that sense of adventure and the love and excitement of travel never left me.

As you travel you not only learn so much about the world and different cultures but at the same time you can also discover a lot about yourself. Travel has a way of showing you what really matters in life, giving you a fresh perspective, and also helping you to appreciate the small things in life (which we sometimes forget to do when things get busy). It has a beautiful way of opening both your heart and your mind and that is one of the things that I love most about it……there really is something magical and inspiring about visiting a new place and feeling yourself quietly transformed by the experience.

Travel has also helped me through some really tough times too. When I lost my brother, and later my Dad, planning and focussing on upcoming trips helped me keep going. Even just dreaming about where I might go next gave me something to look forward to. It didn’t take the pain away (as that will take time), but it gave me light and something beautiful to hold onto and look forward to.

It’s not just about staying at an expensive hotel or taking that picture-perfect photo (although those things are certainly lovely to do)…. it’s also about the little things and how a place makes you feel…. the amazing smell of fresh croissants as you pass a Parisien bakery, that beautiful orange glow in the Mykonos sky just before sunset, or watching the stunning Rocky Mountains slowly pass by through a train window. These are the moments that make travel so special and that leave a lasting impression on your heart and these are ones I think back on when I need to remember how beautiful life can be.

For me, travel also isn’t just about ticking off a destination from you bucket list or racing from one famous landmark to the next (just to say you’ve been there). It’s also about slowing down enough to notice the moments that really matter and taking in your new environment and the local culture — sitting in a local café and watching the world go by, unexpected conversations with locals allowing you practise your language skills, or the fun of getting lost in streets as you explore a new destination (and finding somewhere you would never have found if you hadn’t got lost). It’s certainly great to experience some of the major tourist attractions (and I personally love to visit these while I’m travelling) but sometimes it’s those unplanned, imperfect moments that make a trip unforgettable.

Writing this blog has made me think about why I love travel so much and i’ve realised it’s for so many reasons…..Travel gives me a deep-down feeling of excitement and inspiration, and something wonderful to look forward to. It also makes me feel more grounded, yet at the same time more alive - and most importantly it makes me feel like me. Travel reminds me to stay curious and to appreciate the beauty in everyday moments and the world around me.

When life feels tough or uncertain, travel also gives me hope and a reminder that there’s beauty, magic and new experiences waiting just around the corner. For me, travel is more than a trip — it’s also a way to keep growing, learning, exploring and embracing all the beauty life (and the world) has to offer.

In the end, travel isn’t just something I do….. it’s part of who I am.
